Rosemary and rosemary oil

I understand for my studies that whatever we put on our skin gets absorbed into our body. That is one of the reasons I love using natural and essential oils on my skin. Especially essential oils with their therapeutic benefits. One essential oil that I absolutely love is rosemary oil. Rosemary oil is a floral scented oil that I use a lot for various reasons. Rosemary oil is good to the skin, hair, body and mind.

I suffer from irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) which is horrible and can be worse depending on what I eat and how I manage my stress. One symptom of IBS is really bad stomach cramps; rosemary is a good aid for that. There are various ways to use rosemary to IBS, including using it as an herb in your food or as a massage oil on your abdomen. Not only does it help with stomach cramps but it also helps with gas, it detoxifies the liver, helps with gallbladder function, and stimulates blood flow and improves circulation which helps the body absorb nutrients better.

Rosemary and rosemary oil has anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and antiseptic properties that are very beneficial for insect bites and minor cuts and burn. This is one of the oils I use a lot for my daughter who suffers from eczema. It’s also great astringent making it work well for acne, stretch marks, cellulite, scars, spots. Rosemary oily is great for oily skin because it helps to regulate oil production. I know this from personal experience. A few years ago I was deal with terrible adult acne my face was always oily and I would have a lot of pimples. After trying various store bought acne treatments I came up with my own. I mix rosemary oil with another essential oils and witch hazel as part of Heavenly Blessings facial set and my skin is better than it was when I was in my 20’s.

Regular use of rosemary oil can help tone the skin, prevent skin damage, give support to the structure of the skin, and eliminate dryness.Rosemary oil and rosemary waters and teas are used a lot for hair care in shampoos and lotions. Regular use of rosemary oil in the hair helps stimulate follicles, making hair grow longer and stronger. It is also believed that rosemary oil slows down hair loss and with it darkening properties graying of the hair. Using rosemary on your hair also helps with dandruff and itchy scalp, it can also replenish nutrients and fight infections in the scalp that may be causing hair loss. Mixing rosemary oil with tea tree oil and basil oil gives even better results when it comes to dandruff. Works great with olive oil as a hot oil treatment for healthier hair and scalp.

There a plenty of other uses for rosemary and rosemary oil. Rosemary oil is a disinfectant and is often used as a mouth wash to help eliminate bad breath, remove oral bacteria, it is said to prevent gingivitis, cavities, plaque build-up, and other damaging dental conditions. Rosemary essential oil is a great support for the brain and nerves. It increases concentration and helps in effective studying. It stimulates mental activity and is a good remedy for depression, mental fatigue and forgetfulness.

Great as an aromatherapy so inhaling rosemary oil can lift your spirits immediately. Whenever your brain is tired, try inhaling a little rosemary oil to remove boredom and renew your mental energy. Inhaling or massaging rosemary oil on you neck and head can help with headaches. Not only does rosemary oil help with headaches but also muscle pains, rheumatism and even arthritis. Massaging the affected area that is in pain with rosemary oil can give quickly relieve the pain. Vapor baths with rosemary oil are also found to be effective in the treatment of rheumatism. It has certain anti-inflammatory qualities as well, which makes it very good for relieving the pain from sprains and joint aches. I have arthritis in my hips and back and my favorite treatment is a back with the tub fill with rosemary infused Epsom salt. Not only does it help with my pain I and also more focused mentally. I am usually able to concentrate and get more work done after a soak in rosemary oil
Inhaling rosemary oil has been proven to actually decrease the level of cortisol which is one of the main stress hormones that are released during the “flight or fight” response of the body to stress. Too much cortisol in the blood can cause problems in the body, including its hormonal balance and metabolic issues. Inhaling rosemary and lavender oil together for five minutes can significantly reduce cortisol levels. Rosemary oil is a great natural decongestant, when inhaled, it can clear the respiratory tract. It works even better as a decongestant when mixed with eucalyptus and lavender oil.

Rosemary oil can also give you immune system a boost, antioxidants are important defenses the body has fighting off infection and disease. Rosemary oil has an antioxidant called carnosol which is said to not only have anti-inflammatory properties but also anti-cancer properties. The same study which found that cortisol levels decreased after simultaneous massage and inhalation of rosemary essential oil also found that the free radical activity in the test subjects’ bodies also increased significantly. This shows that regular use or inhalation of rosemary essential oil in aromatherapy sessions or in other ways can increase the strength of the immune system and help combat all of the diseases associated with free radicals, including cancer and heart disease.
